What do you think convinces Product people to build a relationship with Trust and Safety?
- Use data to show how T&S is improving user’s quality of experience
- Trust and Safety is tied to user experience
- Make the argument that over a period of time, exposure to harmful content makes you lose users even if initially you see a spike. People will move on. It’s a retention and growth thing.
- If you can set goals from the C-suite level that’s best. Set the right goals at the top.
What would you suggest for Product folks to learn more about Trust and Safety?
- Send them the curriculum from the Integrity Institute website
- PMs want to build the best product possible.
What’s the perfect relationship between Product and Trust and Safety? How should Product integrate Trust and Safety?
- Having some clear operating model when it comes to planning
- Setting up the top line metrics together and internal processes and incentives to have these discussions
- Performance reviews — are we incentivizing PMs to work cross-functionally?
- There needs to be some sort of stated or demonstrable leadership buy-in at the top
How do we get there?
